Site: Shoal Creek
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Warehouse Clerk to join our warehouse team at our Shoal Creek Mine, located in Oakman, Alabama. Peabody's Shoal Creek Mine has a safety-first culture and strives to have zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents. Shoal Creek Mine is one of the deepest underground coal mines in the United States. Located on the Black Warrior River, this site produces one of the highest qualities of met coal in the United States. With nine-foot-tall workings, a brand-new longwall, and 15+ years of projected coal reserves, Shoal Creek mine is an ideal place to work.
Located in between Jefferson, Walker, and Tuscaloosa counties in Alabama, this area offers beautiful rivers and lakes, landscapes, and rolling hills at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. Oakman is about an hour from Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, both of which provide diverse, family-friendly communities with something for everyone, such as vibrant downtowns, safe, friendly neighborhoods, and excellent schools, including the University of Alabama and other area colleges.

Responsibilities:
The Warehouse Clerk will perform basic data entry in the material system; warehousing functions including processing, receiving, and issuing supplies, stocking the warehouse, maintaining inventory controls, loading, and unloading supplies and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse; and preparing shipping documents.
Duties will include:
  • Entering requisitions for purchasing items for the warehouse.
  • Posting goods receipts for material that has been delivered.
  • Safely operating forklifts and mobile equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, stocked to budget and organized warehouse.
  • Maintaining the core report.
  • Preparing items to be shipped for repair.
  • Working the MRP workbench for inventory repair items.
  • Minimize backorders.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Confirmation of all required invoicing (workflow).
  • Warranty validation.
  • Material data entry.
  • Receiving, processing, and issuing supplies.
  • Maintain inventory controls.
  • Prepare shipping documents.
  • Communicate & coordinate with co-workers, vendors, & supervisors.
  • Assist other areas as needed.

The Lifestyle:
The hours for this shift are 6:00 pm - 6:00 am, working 4 nights on, then four nights off. This position may also require the necessity to overtime work, weekends, holidays and other shifts as deemed necessary.

About you:
  • Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possess a current, valid driver's license.
  • 1 - 3 years' experience in warehouse operations at a mining operation (preferred).
  • Hoist Operator certification (Desirable).
  • Must be able to be receive clearance to be an approved explosives possessor by the ATF.
  • Must have good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Must be knowledgeable of State and Federal mining regulations pertaining to surface operations at an underground coal mine.
  • Must have working experience with material handling equipment and practices. (Forklifts, load securing techniques, etc.).
  • Experience identifying parts required for mining operations is a plus.
  • Experience maintaining inventory records including issues, receipts, backorders, delivery tickets, etc. preferred.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office (SAP, Success Factors, and Kronos knowledge is a plus).

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for long duration of time.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, or bend without issues.
  • Be able to work in varying work conditions (heat, cold, dust, rain, etc.).
  • Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.
  • Must be able to lift 70lbs on a regular basis.
  • Must have the ability to climb on and off equipment and ladders.
  • Must be able to have vision for close-up computer work as well as distance vision.
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination.

Physical Requirements - Office:
  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment.
  • Must be able to use a computer.
  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands.
