The Reliability Engineer's primary duties are to utilize engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of power tool products. The Reliability Engineer will define the test methods and product requirements needed to develop durable, disruptive, and market-leading products.
A successful candidate will bring curiosity, accountability, and strong experience in requirements definition, test development, validation, and data acquisition to the new product development team. The candidate enjoys a fast-paced work environment with excellent visibility and opportunities to grow.
Duties and Responsibilities
Product Development
  • Be a subject matter expert in the new product development team with respect to test methods, product requirements, user needs, and reliability
  • Develop critical to quality (CTQ) requirements from collaboration with product management and participation in user needs research
  • Collaborate with engineering and marketing to define product specifications with respect to all aspects of reliability, quality, and user needs
  • Design experimental techniques to improve development and testing efforts
  • Interact with global suppliers that participate in product development
  • Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process

Testing and Analysis
  • Develop new test procedures and create test plans to evaluate product performance against user and product requirements
  • Effectively document test plans, procedures, and best practices for execution in test laboratories
  • Perform data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data
  • Summarize test results with statistical techniques and present concise, logical, written conclusions
  • Ensure timely failure reporting and drive root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA)

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related engineering field with 2-5 years of experience in similar product development, reliability, test, or quality roles
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as design of experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEAs, hypothesis testing, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems, data analytics, and related software (e.g. Python, nCode Glyphworks, Dewesoft, LabVIEW)
  • Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and statistical analysis, and related software (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
  • Experience in troubleshooting, fault detection, failure analysis, and automating tests/measurements and analysis
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to travel 10% (includes both domestic and international)
