Outside Sales Rep - Powerlift Hydraulic Doors

Mathews Mechanical

Newark, CA • On-site

$65K - $80K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 29 days ago

Job description

About Mathews Mechanical:

Mathews Mechanical is a Newark, CA-based industrial services and millwright contractor with over a decade of experience serving clients across Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Our services include semi-automated parking systems, fall protection, workstation cranes, overhead doors, dock equipment, and Powerlift hydraulic door installation. We're a hands-on team that takes pride in quality work and long-term customer relationships.

About the Role:

Mathews Mechanical is the primary Powerlift Hydraulic Door partner for Northern California and Reno, Nevada. Powerlift doors are premium, large-format hydraulic doors used in aviation hangars, agricultural facilities, fire stations, commercial shops, and luxury residential properties. This is a hunter role. Today, our Powerlift revenue is entirely inbound -- and we're ready to change that. We're looking for a self-motivated outside sales rep to own and grow this product line through active prospecting, relationship building, and closing deals. The right person sees a small footprint as an opportunity, not a starting point.

What You'll Do:

Prospect and develop new business in the aviation sector (private hangars, FBOs, airport managers) and other target markets including agriculture, fire/emergency services, and commercial/industrial

Build and manage a pipeline from cold outreach through signed contract

Conduct site visits, measure openings, and develop project proposals with support from our estimating team

Coordinate with Powerlift's factory team and Mathews Mechanical's project managers to ensure smooth handoffs from sale to installation

Represent the company at trade shows, fly-ins, and industry events

Maintain accurate activity records and pipeline reporting

Identify cross-sell opportunities for Mathews Mechanical's broader services (overhead doors, dock equipment, millwright work)

Who We're Looking For:

Required

Proven outside sales experience -- you know how to hunt, not just respond to leads

Comfortable calling on business owners, facilities managers, and aviation decision-makers

Able to work independently, manage your own schedule, and stay accountable to numbers

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the territory (Northern CA / Reno)

Strong communication skills -- written, verbal, and in-person

Preferred

Background in aviation sales -- FBOs, airport managers, private hangar owners, or aviation service providers. This is our primary target market and direct experience here will move you to the top of the list.

Existing relationships in the Northern California or Nevada aviation community (think: general aviation airports, private pilots, hangar developers)

Background in construction, industrial equipment, or commercial door sales

Familiarity with estimating or reviewing project drawings (we'll train, but aptitude matters)

Compensation & Benefits:

Base salary: $65,000 - $80,000 depending on experience

Commission: 6% on self-generated Powerlift revenue

On-target earnings: ~$95,000 - $110,000 at $500,000 Year 1 target

Uncapped commission -- top performers earn more

Company vehicle or vehicle allowance

Health benefits

401(k) with company matching

Life insurance

Paid time off
