Job description

Description:

Western Building Products | Employee-Owned | Stable & Growing

Why this opportunity stands out

If you are a Manufacturing Engineer who wants to see your work make a real impact, this role delivers. At Western Building Products, engineering isnโ€™t removed from production; it is embedded in it. You will be on the shop floor, solving problems, improving processes, and helping shape the business.

Western is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company, where employees share in the success they help create. We are a stand-alone, financially healthy organization on a three-year growth journey, investing in people, equipment, and processes while maintaining long-term stability.

The role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide hands-on engineering support to daily operations, driving improvements across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) while identifying constraints, eliminating waste, and implementing sustainable solutions.

You will collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, IT, and equipment vendors to ensure manufacturing processes are reliable, capable, and consistently meet performance and customer expectations. Your work will directly impact throughput, safety, quality, and long-term process stability.

What you will do

ยท Support and optimize manufacturing processes on the shop floor

ยท Identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve process flow and efficiency

ยท Lead projects to design, install, validate, and optimize manufacturing equipment and processes

ยท Apply root cause analysis and data-driven problem solving to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence

ยท Develop and maintain process documentation and support new production processes

ยท Ensure compliance with all safety and quality requirements

ยท Actively reinforce Westernโ€™s culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the work, partnering with production teams, and taking ownership of problems from start to finish.

Compensation and Benefits

Western Building Products offers competitive pay and benefits, including health, dental, and paid time off.

About Western Building Products

Western Building Products is a value-added assembler, focused on delivering high-quality, customized building products. As an employee-owned ESOP company, we believe accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement drive long-term success. We are fiscally strong, growing with intention, and committed to creating a workplace where employees can build long-term careers and share in the results they help create.

Requirements:

What we are looking for

ยท 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering

ยท Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and materials

ยท Proven ability to manage projects and implement process improvements

ยท Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

ยท Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, automation, or capital projects is a plus

ยท Experience in woodworking, millwork, or custom manufacturing environments is helpful

Work environment

This role operates primarily in a manufacturing environment and requires frequent collaboration with production teams, equipment vendors, and cross-functional partners. Occasional extended hours or off-shift support may be required during equipment installations or major process changes.
