Job description

Position Summary


The Cabinet Assembler is responsible for assembling cabinet and closet system components accurately and efficiently using blueprints (shop drawings), cut lists, production documents, hardware, fasteners, adhesives, and shop equipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring that cabinetry, closets, and custom millwork are manufactured to company quality standards, production schedules, and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate has experience in custom cabinetry, kitchen cabinet manufacturing, closet systems, and possesses a strong understanding of cabinet construction methods, blueprint reading, and assembly techniques. The successful candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, organization, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and accurately follow blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists, labels, and production paperwork.
  • Assemble kitchen cabinets, doors, panels, shelving, and other custom millwork components according to drawings and production specifications.
  • Verify cabinet dimensions, materials, hardware, and components before beginning assembly.
  • Install dowels, cam locks, connectors, screws, hinges, drawer slides, backs, toe kicks, shelving systems, and other cabinet hardware.
  • Apply adhesives, glue, clamps, and fastening methods to ensure cabinets are square, secure, and structurally sound.
  • Inspect assembled components for proper sizing, squareness, alignment, fit, finish, and overall quality.
  • Perform a final quality inspection before products move to packaging, staging, or installation.
  • Complete production paperwork, quality control reports, and job tracking documentation accurately.
  • Perform minor adjustments, corrections, and repairs during assembly when necessary.
  • Maintain production flow while meeting daily production goals and delivery schedules.
  • Organize cabinet parts, hardware, and completed jobs for packaging and staging.
  • Assist with sanding, cleaning, packaging, labeling, and staging completed projects.
  • Safely operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, drills, clamps, and other assembly equipment.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of tools, equipment, and workstations.
  • Report missing parts, damaged materials, hardware shortages, blueprint discrepancies, or production concerns to management immediately.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall shop operations.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in  custom kitchens, closets, residential cabinetry, or similar products.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists, and production documents.
  • Knowledge of cabinet construction methods, hardware installation, and woodworking materials.
  • Proficient in using common woodworking hand tools, and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate hand tools and power equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to wood dust, noise, adhesives, and varying temperatures.


Work Environment

This position is performed in a custom cabinet manufacturing facility specializing in kitchens, closets, wall beds, and architectural millwork. Employees regularly work around woodworking machinery, assembly equipment, adhesives, and moving materials.
