Job description

Shift Miller

Your role:

As a Shift Miller, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient production of flour within the facility. You will support the efficient and effective setting of mill equipment to optimize processing efficiencies and adherence to customer specifications.

Above all you will be expected to carry out all your activities with reliability, integrity, compliance and in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner.

Your responsibilities:

  • Maximize milling efficiencies in the plant daily by focusing on adjustment and operation of cleaning house and mill equipment.

  • Monitor the entire milling process and perform basic equipment maintenance/troubleshooting tasks for all equipment related to the operation of the mill

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned including working on plant teams, providing input on capital projects, and center lining

  • Maintain sanitation standards, in accordance to policies, to provide for a safe and food safe work environment

  • Maintain all tools/equipment and execute processes in the 5S, Pristine AMPS standards using process tools such as Centerline, 5S, understanding loss through 5why to create continuous improvement process by determining Root Cause and Corrective Actions.

  • Use computers to operate mill equipment, document production reports, shift reports, including mill and maintenance issues

  • Interact with scheduler, elevator, blender, quality team, maintenance, and packer to communicate workflow, milling schedule, and equipment issues.

Essential skills and experiences:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an industrial environment (milling, agricultural, food production, or equivalent)

  • Basic skills with computer applications, to include Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn and use new computer programs

Good to have:

  • Demonstrated mechanical understanding and intermediate troubleshooting ability

  • Understanding of safety behaviors within production environment

  • Mill Production experience

  • Associates Degree, Technical or Trade certifications, IAOM Milling Coursework, or any Training and Education specific to Milling or Grain Sciences

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, multiple times per day

  • Climb ladder, step and extension

  • Able to lift to 50 pounds and exert 20 pounds of force

  • Frequently stand, walk, rotate, bend/stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, balance and reach at shoulder level and below shoulder level

  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including a dust mask

  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.

Competitive Compensation:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate's unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - OIP, 5% Annual.
