Job description

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Robotic Scarfer for our Indiana Flames Service division in Burns Harbor, Indiana. The Robotic Scarfer visually inspects the scarfing bath and removes surface defects of slabs by manipulating the robotic scarfer.

Responsibilities

The Robotic Scarfer will:

  • Visually inspect slab surface as they are being processed to ensure defects are being removed
  • Process each individual slab as required by mill scarfing speed instructions
  • Complete Daily Robotic Inspection forms
  • Enter IFS sequence number into panel view for data collection
  • Aware of any mechanical/electrical malfunctions of equipment and report
  • Performs all machine scarfing activities within SOP procedures.
  • Cleaning of robotic car up to three times a shift
  • Work closely with Shift Foreman, Hand Scarfer and Crane Operator
  • May be required to perform the duties of Hand Scarfer and/or Crane Operator
  • Shoveling
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor

Skills

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Moving equipment in industrial setting
  • Robotics
  • Flame equipment - knowledge of gas and oxygen torches
  • Working knowledge of basic computers
  • Mechanically inclined
