Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and developing a team of production employees while ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the facility. This role plans and assigns work, manages shift resources, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures production, quality, food safety, and safety objectives are achieved.

What You'll Do
  • Lead daily production operations to meet safety, quality, productivity, and customer requirements.
  • Plan and organize personnel, materials, equipment, and production schedules to maximize efficiency.
  • Coach, develop, and hold employees accountable to performance expectations and plant standards.
  • Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication and smooth operational transitions.
  • Promote and maintain compliance with food safety, SQF, FSMA, GMP, and workplace safety programs.
  • Monitor production processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate staffing, workflow adjustments, and operational priorities to meet business demands.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve issues and improve overall plant performance.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and uphold company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a hands‑on leader who supports operational success while developing future talent.
What We're Looking For Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, food production, dairy processing, or a related industry preferred.
  • Strong leadership experience managing teams in a production environment.

Physical Requirements

This role requires active involvement throughout the manufacturing facility, including climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching overhead, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Strong communication and listening skills are essential.

The Michigan Milk Producers Association is a dairy farmer owned cooperative and dairy processor. Founded in 1916, the MMPA serves dairy farmers in Michigan, Indiana,Ohioand Wisconsin.

MMPA maintains a strong presence within the dairy industry with strategic business relationships through a variety of channels like processing shelf-stable, value added dairy products. MMPA has five member owned processing plants in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, including Superior Dairy and the Middlebury Cheese Company.Products made at MMPA’s plants include fluid milk, cheese, ultrafiltered milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream and condensed skim milk.
