Job description

Job Description - Staff Officer – Simulation

Location: Canadian Army Simulation Centre (CASC), Kingston, ON

Position Overview

The three SIM SOs positions are responsible to assist the military OPIs with managing the day-to-day work required to manage the three categories of Constructive Simulation, Live Simulation and Virtual Simulation.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • AFAY (Canadian Army Command and Staff College course) or CAF-recognized equivalents.
  • Demonstrated military experience in:
    • Directing or supervising training activities involving simulation.
    • Staff Officer experience within a unit/school or headquarters.

Desired

·         Canadian Technical Staff Course

Key Responsibilities

Common to all Sim SOs

·         Provide ongoing advisory support to their military OPIs to ensure successful completion of simulation staffing activities.

·         Assist the military OPI with the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned simulation staffing activities.

·         Be prepared to support the development of military QS/TPs for the delivery of simulation system training to uniformed personnel/DND civilians and contractors.

·         Be prepared to support the planning and delivery of simulation system training in conjunction with TSS, LCMMs, OEMs, and the CASC Sim Detachments.

·         Produce Post Activity Reports on various simulation initiatives.

·         Support any other Sim related tasks as assigned by the Senior Activity Lead.

 

 

CONSIM

·         Provide SO level support to the CONSIM File to the designated CASC military OPI to include:

o    Coordination of WGs and preparation of materials ISO of WGs-maintenance of a CONSIM tool tracker WRT to current versions, issues trackers, ISS contract status, etc.

o    Developing plans on CONSIM updates/integration of new tools and federation status with other sims-coordination and planning of connectivity/interoperability testing-attendance at supporting WGs/Mtgs such as STE governance, CM processes, etc. - participate in PI Planning with VTEN TA/DLCSPM.

LIVSIM

·         Provide SO level support to the LIVESIM File to the designated CASC military OPI to include:

o    Coordination of WGs and preparation of materials ISO of WGs.

o    Maintenance of a LIVESIM tool tracker WRT to current versions, issues trackers, ISS contract status, etc.

o    As required - develop plans for LIVESIM updates/integration of new tools and federation status with other simulations.

o    As required - coordination and planning of connectivity/interoperability testing-attendance at supporting WGs/Mtgs such as CA Sim governance, WESM meetings, etc.

VIRSIM

·         Provide SO level support to the VIRSIM File to the designated CASC military OPI to include:

o    Coordination of WGs and preparation of materials ISO of WGs-maintenance of a VIRSIM tool tracker WRT to current versions, issues trackers, ISS contract status, etc.

o    Developing plans on VIRSIM updates/integration of new tools and federation status with other sims- coordination and planning of connectivity/interoperability testing.

o    Coordination with LCMMs, Dets and other L1s WRT to management/governance of VIRSIM equipment.
