MISSION FIRST
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built, and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
The Product Design team is the connective tissue across Anduril's software ecosystem - ensuring products and workflows scale thoughtfully across platforms, mission types, and domains. We partner with engineers, product managers, and customers to shape experiences that build operator trust and expand capacity. We prioritize safety, reducing cognitive burden, and iterating directly with the customer.
As a designer on the Lattice Mission Autonomy team, you'll own the design vision for unified command and control of hundreds of autonomous vehicles. Spanning fleet management, mission planning, live execution, autonomous collaboration, and generative AI, you'll shape how the military operates robots at scale across every domain - air, ground, surface, and subsurface.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Collaborate with the Mission Autonomy team's designer to shape experiences from discovery to delivery - maturing capabilities for fielded use and expanding into new workflows as programs launch.
  • Spend time on-site with soldiers and subject matter experts to build deep user empathy, understand pain points, and test design hypotheses through workshops, field observations, and iterative prototyping.
  • Inspire development with strong product narratives, journey maps, user workflows, high-fidelity mockups, and rigorous documentation.
  • Turn ambiguous design challenges and technically complex software into polished, clear interfaces that operators can pick up with ease.
  • Partner with engineering and product to define delivery timelines, optimizing for getting critical functionality into operators' hands.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic reuse across Anduril's existing interfaces - leveraging and extending the design system to meet the unique requirements of operation at scale.
  • Contribute to the central design team function by participating in design critiques, mentoring peers, and sharing best practices across specialties.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, UX, or HCI, with a proven ability to execute high-craft, technically informed solutions.
  • Demonstrated autonomy in design execution with the ability to independently drive feature-level and system-level work, navigating complex ambiguities with sound judgment.
  • Deep expertise in visual and interaction design with proven ability to design complex technical workflows where precision, clarity, and attention to detail are critical; portfolio demonstrating elegant solutions and high craft quality.
  • Systems thinking mindset with ability to map user journeys across multiple user types and operational contexts.
  • Strong prototyping skills to drive clarity in decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate the "why" behind design decisions; work demonstrating having navigated complex stakeholder requirements across engineering, product, and business teams.
  • No prior defense experience necessary - we are looking for designers who can bring diverse perspectives to hard problems.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience designing for technical operator-focused software in domains such as aviation, autonomous systems, robotics, industrial control systems, logistics, or similar complex operational contexts.
  • Familiarity with workflows involving planning, execution, monitoring, or debrief of autonomous or distributed systems.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality design work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments with shifting priorities and ambiguity.
  • Experience helping mature a product from early development to operational readiness.
  • Experience working within established design systems while contributing thoughtful extensions for domain-specific needs.
  • Experience leading user research sessions including customer discovery, usability testing, and synthesis of complex feedback loops.
  • Facilitation skills to lead workshops, guide cross-functional alignment, and strategic decision-making.
  • Familiarity with designing for constrained or high-stakes / safety critical environments.
