SUMMARY
The Environmental Specialist supports environmental compliance activities for the Companyโ€™s midstream oil and gas operations. This position assists with environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, inspections, recordkeeping, and compliance programs for pipelines, compressor stations, processing facilities, and other Company assets.
The Environmental Specialist works closely with Director Environmental Services to help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Support day-to-day environmental compliance activities for midstream oil and gas operations.
  • Assist with environmental permits, permit renewals, registrations, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain environmental records, compliance documentation, databases, and tracking systems.
  • Monitor permit requirements and compliance deadlines and communicate upcoming requirements to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with air emissions compliance, emissions inventories, regulatory reporting, and recordkeeping for compressor stations, processing facilities, and other midstream assets.
  • Support spill and release reporting, documentation, remediation activities, and regulatory notifications as required.
  • Assist with waste, water, and other applicable environmental compliance requirements.
  • Assist with facility inspections, environmental audits, and corrective action tracking.
  • Collect, review, and organize environmental data used for regulatory reporting and compliance tracking.
  • Work with Operations, Engineering, and Construction personnel to address environmental requirements associated with maintenance activities, facility modifications, and new projects.
  • Assist in preparing information and documentation for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Support responses to agency inspections, information requests, and compliance matters under the direction of Environmental leadership.
  • Coordinate with environmental consultants and third-party service providers as needed.
  • Monitor changes to environmental regulations and communicate potential compliance impacts to Environmental leadership.
  • Identify potential environmental compliance issues and promptly communicate concerns to the Environmental Manager or Director of Environmental Services.
  • Support environmental training and promote environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
  • Perform other environmental and compliance-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 2โ€“4 years of environmental compliance experience preferred.
  • Experience within the oil and gas, midstream, pipeline, natural gas processing, or related industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, inspections, recordkeeping, and compliance tracking preferred.
  • Experience with air emissions compliance and environmental reporting preferred.
  • Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies is preferred.
  • Multi-state environmental compliance experience, particularly in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma, is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and compliance requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Operations, Engineering, Construction, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental compliance tracking systems.

Physical Conditions:
  • Office work.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to Company facilities, field locations, and other business-related locations as needed.
