Department: SecondaryJob Description                                                                                                                                                                         JD – SATitle: Secondary Aide         Job Summary:As a Secondary Aide at Midland Christian School, you will play a vital role in providing support to teachers and students in our Middle school and High school divisions. This position involves assisting teachers in delivering educational instruction, managing classroom activities, and fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment consistent with our Christian values. Working behind the scenes in the workroom, you help ensure that teachers have the resources they need to deliver effective instruction and that the school operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, you will serve as a substitute teacher when needed, ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive and enriching atmosphere for our studentsLines of Authority:Reports to the Secondary Substitute Coordinator and Secondary Principal Education:High School Diploma or GEDRequired Personal Qualities:

Essential Functions
Essential functions of this position include the following.  Employees in this position perform some or all of the following functions.  Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Assist classroom teachers with lesson preparations, including gathering materials, setting up equipment, and organizing instructional resources.
  1. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and assisting with assignments as directed by the teacher.
  1. Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and outdoor playtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  1. Help maintain classroom discipline and encourage positive behavior through consistent implementation of school policies and procedures.
  1. Collaborate with teaching staff, administrators, and other support personnel to promote a cohesive and effective learning environment.
  1. Serve as a substitute teacher when assigned, following lesson plans and maintaining continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher
  1. Uphold the school's mission, values, and Christian principles in all interactions and activities.
  1. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance job-related skills and stay informed about best practices in education.
  1. Materials Preparation: Assist in preparing instructional materials, such as worksheets, craft supplies, and teaching aids, for use in classrooms. This may involve photocopying, laminating, cutting, and organizing materials according to teachers' lesson plans.
  1. Resource Management: Maintain inventory of classroom supplies and materials, ensuring that adequate quantities are available for teachers and students. Help organize storage areas and shelves to keep materials easily accessible and neatly arranged.
