Job description

The Executive Director of the Midland College Foundation acts as the chief fundraiser and administrator, driving philanthropic strategy to support institutional goals, scholarships, and programs. The Executive Director reports to the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Development. The Executive Director of the MC Foundation leads the foundation’s operations and works collaboratively with the college administration, Foundation Board of Directors, and community partners to increase resources.  

  • Work closely with the Foundation board president, board of directors, and committee chairs 
  • Cultivate major gift prospects, investing the necessary time and energy to build relationships designed to understand the donor/prospect goals with the expressed purpose of alignment with Midland College and the Midland College Foundation’s mission and objectives 
  • Plan and execute capital campaigns (in conjunction with the President of the College and the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Development), annual giving, and scholarship fundraising 
  • Prepare donor gift acknowledgments, manage pledge tracking, reminders, and follow-ups, and assist with weekly deposits, check requests, and monthly reconciliation, supporting both the Midland College Foundation and the Strategic Partnerships and Development Office 
  • Prepare complex queries, exports, and reports from Raiser’s Edge to support fundraising activities, including donor retention, solicitation initiatives, and specific reporting requests from the MC President, Foundation staff, and the MC Foundation Board of Directors 
  • Oversee grant research, development, and grant management 
  • Must be available for evenings and weekends for special events, meetings, training, and conferences 
  • Lead and oversee the Davidson Distinguished Lecture Series and the Phyllis and Bob Cowan Performing Arts Series Advisory Committees, ensuring that lecturers and performers are booked for events. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, non-profit management, or related field
  • Knowledge and understanding of the function and role of the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors in the community
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of relationships and partnerships
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • Develop effective and efficient processes, interacting with donors and funders while coordinating between appropriate departments requiring advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effectively manage time and priorities to meet established deadlines
  • Work in a team environment with multiple, sometimes changing priorities
  • Interact with donors, funders, students, and colleagues in a professional manner
  • Participate on behalf of the Midland College Foundation and the Strategic Partnerships and Development Office in community organizations and associations as assigned
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Four or more years of fundraising experience
  • Experience in coordinating and organizing major community events
  • Experience working with donor software; Raiser’s Edge

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds 
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time 
  • Use of manual dexterity 
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation 
  • This position requires occasional travel
