Job description

Valley Catholic Middle School seeks a qualified educator to serve as a long-term substitute during a planned faculty leave.
Teaching Assignment
Four sections of 7th Grade Spanish
Compensation for Long-Term Spanish Substitute (.8 temporary position)
Compensation for this long-term substitute assignment is $30.00 per hour, the standard substitute teacher rate at Valley Catholic Middle School.
  • Assignment Dates: August 24 - October 9, 2026
  • Estimated Schedule: 36 school days, approximately 5 hours per day
  • Estimated Total Hours: 180 hours
  • Estimated Total Compensation: Approximately $5,400

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
  • Implement curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Maintain continuity of instruction throughout the leave period.
  • Foster student engagement and confidence in learning Spanish.
  • Assess student progress and maintain appropriate records.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues and administration.
  • Maintain a positive classroom culture consistent with Valley Catholic expectations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Oregon Teaching License (or ability to obtain one)
  • Spanish language proficiency appropriate for middle school instruction
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to step into an established program with confidence and flexibility
