REPORTS TO: Director of C&I and Superintendent
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
This position serves as the site instructional leader and is responsible for the total operation of the middle school including the administration and supervision of all phases of the instructional program and management of the facility. The incumbent is ultimately responsible for the direction, coordination and delegation of duties to members of the professional and support staff, as directed by the Superintendent and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I). The position is responsible for providing a safe/orderly environment and control student discipline to provide a conducive learning atmosphere. The Middle School Principal provides leadership, administrative and supervisory skills for the educational development of students as well as to promote parent and community involvement. The incumbent works with other members of the middle school in meeting department goals and objectives in support of the E-Town mission to provide a social and educational environment for the students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Works with the Superintendent and Director of C & I to establish an organizational structure and educational programs that are conducive to creating conditions of success for all students to meet high educational standards.
2. Assumes responsibility for providing a safe and orderly environment for student achievement and the continuing productivity of staff for the purpose of meeting strategic goals.
3. Maintains prudent fiscal oversight of site budgets and recommends for Board action annual budget plans that are aligned with the district priorities and student learning objectives.
4. Manages and supervises professional development (PD) for staff at the middle school, may be required to lead the PD.
5. Supervises the administration of student discipline through consistent educational practices.
6. Coordinates and supervises all activities and programs conducted at the building level.
7. Responsible for the overall achievement, welfare, and conduct of students within the middle school building.
8. Works actively with teachers to develop and maintain high curriculum standards.
9. Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional staff.
10. Collaborates with the supervision of special education and counseling in the building to support the educational instructional direction of students.
11. Will support MDE's and is the district LEA for IEP meetings in collaboration with the pupil services department to meet the needs of our students.
12. Supervises athletics as appropriate.
13. Supervises safe schools and emergency plan, both the development and implementation.
14. Implements district and building goals as aligned with the district comprehensive plan.
15. Responsible for communication, training and outlining district expectations with student data analysis.
16. Implements state testing practices.
17. Evaluates the implementation of programs within the building and provides training as needed.
18. Evaluates the performance of all staff and provides opportunities for improvement and/or takes administrative measures to outline next expectations.
19. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other administrators, employees, parents and members of the community.
20. Responsible for requisitions, procurement, and allocation of supplies through fiscal responsibility.
21. Responsible for middle school budgetary requirements to fulfill district expenditures.
22. Interacts and/or collaborates with other administrators, students, parents and representatives of the community to communicate district policies and procedures.
23. Maintains, in collaboration with Building and Grounds, responsibility for maintenance and proper utilization of facilities.
24. Promotes and maintains parental and community involvement.

responsible.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
This position accomplishes most of its tasks through highly complex procedures, exercising a great deal of judgment when necessary. Normal contacts are both inside and outside the school district. Internal contacts include district
office staff, students, teachers, specialists, assistant principal, instructional staff, and board members. Outside contacts include the public, parents, suppliers, and possibly individuals from other school districts and individuals from local and state regulatory agencies and offices. This position supervises assistant principal(s), certified professional staff, and direct report support staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a PA State Principal Certification (K-12), master's degree required, supervisory experience required; a minimum of three years of administrative experience a plus; five to seven years of teaching experience; successful experience with student relationships and handling discipline is essential. Position is aligned with the Act 93 agreement provided to administration.
