POSITION OPENING: Middle School Cross Country Coach - Inspire and Empower Young Athletes!
POSITION: MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY COACH
LOCATION: AVONDALE HIGH SCHOOL
REPORTS TO: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
DATE NEEDED: ASAP
HOURS: 10-20 HOURS PER WEEK
JOB GOAL: To provide instruction of middle school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of cross country and also instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and student-centered Middle School Cross Country Coach to lead our boys' and girls' cross country program.
WHAT WE NEED:
  1. Experience Coaching cross country
  2. Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, meets, and team activities.
  3. Knowledge/experience scheduling practices and off season workouts
  4. Teach the fundamentals of distance running, pacing, race strategy, conditioning, and injury prevention.
  5. Be able to demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport
  6. Be knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport
  7. Assume the responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used
  8. Conduct structured practices that stay within the confines of the specified times at the Athletic Department
  9. Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to team at all times
  10. Conduct fundraisers to provide money for team supplies and needs

WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Works cooperatively with administrators, students, parents, and community.
2. Ability to lead, organize and supervise all aspects of the cross country program.
3. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court.
4. Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
5. Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.
6. Coordinate offseason conditioning, strength training, and skill development programs.
7. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
8. Maintains professional competence.
9. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
