About the Opportunity

FirstEnergy Utilities Performance Reporting and Tracking is responsible for developing, managing, and enhancing reporting systems and analytics related to the performance of FE Utilities and Operations. The analyst position is a matrixed role that will work across the organization to ensure accurate performance tracking and reporting to senior leadership and the FirstEnergy Board’s Operations and Safety Committee, support strategic decision-making, and drive operational excellence through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting frameworks for utility performance (KPIs, SLAs, benchmarks).

  • Lead regular performance reviews, analyze trends, and present actionable insights to senior leadership.

  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely and accurate data collection from utility operations, finance, engineering, and customer service teams.

  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions to streamline processes.

  • Design dashboards, scorecards, and data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.

  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement through trend analysis, benchmarking, KPIs, and performance metrics.

  • Lead the development of automated reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of performance initiatives.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on performance metrics related to utility operations.

  • Draft, review, and update board level presentations, reports, and pre-read materials in coordination with subject matter experts.

  • Develop effective working relationships with all levels of employees at FirstEnergy.

  • Handle the development of multiple, high-priority reports and presentations, and incorporation of senior leadership feedback, with quick turnarounds.

Qualifications at the Advanced Business Analyst level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, or related field

  • Minimum 4 years related work experience in utility operations, performance analytics, or data reporting

  • Demonstrated experience in leading others and collaborating cross functionally

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in reporting tools (Power BI, TOAD, QlikView, Tableau, Excel, SQL, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of utility industry standards, metrics, and regulatory requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to think strategically and own data-driven decision making, with a continuous improvement mindset

  • Demonstrated skills in collaboration and communication, including presenting to executive leadership

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Ability to deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines

Qualifications at the Senior Business Analyst level:

All of the above, plus:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, or related field

  • Minimum 7 years related work experience in utility operations, performance analytics, or data reporting
