Job description

Job Title: Rock Steady Boxing Certified Head Coach/Class Instructor

FLSA Status: Part-time

Reports to: Healthy Hearts & Active Lives Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Rock Steady Boxing-Certified Head Coach/Class Instructor is responsible for teaching Rock Steady Boxing classes. This program is designed to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinsonโ€™s disease through a non-contact, boxing-based fitness curriculum.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have strong communication skills and an understanding of the benefits of exercise and Parkinsonโ€™s disease.

  1. Must have positive and caring attitude and be able to implement YMCA mission statement and character development philosophy into the program (i.e., caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility).
  2. Provide a safe, nurturing and friendly environment for our membership. Aid each member in adjusting their exercise and assist each member according to their needs.
  3. Part-time staff should work a minimum of three (3) hours per week on a consistent basis or instruct a class a minimum of twice a week on a consistent basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Serving the member is our first priority, the purpose of our work, and the key to our success!

  1. Attend all scheduled training courses for certification to become a Rock Steady Head Coach
  2. Must hold a NCCA-approved Fitness/Group Exercise professional license/certification or a degree in and Exercise Science -related field of study
  3. Keep up to date with RBS certification requirements.
  4. Be prepared for to teach and conduct group led exercises to those with Parkinsonโ€™s.
  5. Assist every member regardless of their level of skill/experience.
  6. Promote YMCA core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. Lead by example.
  7. Complete required staff certifications within first three months of employment.
  8. Must be able to respond quickly in case of emergency situations.
