Job description

Mid-Level Compression Technician 

Position Overview 

The Mid-Level Compression Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and overhaul of industrial gas compression and engine systems used in manufacturing and production operations. This role requires solid mechanical skills, growing diagnostic ability, and the ability to work independently within established procedures while supporting safety, reliability, and plant performance objectives. 

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties 

  • Follow and support a zero-incident safety culture by complying with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements 

  • Safely perform tear-downs, inspections, cleaning, and rebuilds of gas compressors and gas-driven engines 

  • Assist with and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities 

  • Use hand tools, power tools, hoists, jacks, and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, levels, squares, indicators) 

  • Utilize advanced precision measurement and alignment tools to ensure equipment accuracy and reliability 

  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to complete assigned work 

  • Gather and verify parts and materials required for repairs and maintenance 

  • Perform basic to intermediate troubleshooting and diagnostics with guidance as needed 

  • Accurately document work performed and report equipment conditions 

  • Maintain housekeeping and equipment organization standards 

  • Collaborate effectively with team members, operations, and supervision 

  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and a positive team-oriented attitude 

  • Work flexible hours as required to meet operational needs 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GEDrequired; vocational or technical training preferred

  • 2-4 years of hands-on experiencewith industrial gas compression or related mechanical equipment

  • Working knowledge of gas compression systems and mechanical components

  • Exposure to Ariel, Gemini, CAT, and Cummins equipment preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals

  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and basic precision measuring instruments

  • Developing troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently on routine tasks with established procedures

  • Apprenticeship training or equivalent field experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and use ladders safely

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Vision requirement of 20/40 (with or without corrective lenses) to read technical documentation and equipment markings

  • Manual dexterityrequiredto assemble, disassemble, adjust, andrelocatemachinery and components
