Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Texas buildings practice that provides Interior Design, Architecture, and Buildings Engineering services with a long history and deep commitment to the education sector. Our Houston, Texas office is seeking a mid-level Interior Design professional to join our interdisciplinary team.

The primary role of the Mid-level Interior Designer is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of a client as well as any architectural direction set forth into a cohesive interior design solution with moderate guidance and supervision. This role requires the production of drawings (2D/3D) and written material to support the conceptual direction of interior design and FFE. This individual may be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings with a willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. An individual at this level in their career is expected to perform their role within the standard of care acceptable to their peers in the industry. A Mid-level Interior Designer is expected to work collaboratively with the architectural team, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of the interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and palette, specifications, FFE and construction phase services.

• Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration.

• Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives and ensure the incorporation of design intent.

• Produce design and construction drawings.

• Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM).

• Works closely with delivery team and assists with completing projects to meet the client’s established schedule.

• Develop material palette and perform product research; assist project designers and project architects with materials selection and system research.

• Strong rendering and presentation skills preferred.

• Advocate for design excellence and creativity within the practice of interior design, through the lens of sustainable practices.

• Participate in interdisciplinary teams and coordinate work with consultants, vendors and other partners.

• Investigate processes and technology to improve efficiency.

• Follow established standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.

• Comply with professional ethical standards and codes.

• Able to engage in and advance creative and critical thought.

• Produce design at a level that would be perceived externally as excellent.

• Communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.

• Offer and receive criticism and respond appropriately and professionally.

• Inspire confidence and garner trust and respect with the project team and with clients.

• Review own work for accuracy and completeness to meet project budget and schedule.

• Scale process, design, and effort to various roles on the project, the needs of the project and other conditions.

• Knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials and industry associated standards.

• Requires proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam and Newforma.

• Requires proficiency in Revit and supporting modeling software.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related field is required.

• Licensed or pursuing Interior Design Licensure is required.

• Portfolio required.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience is preferred.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
