Description

NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Mid-Level Network Analyst. This position is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the enterprise network. This hybrid role provides advanced Tier 2 operational support for complex incidents and service requests while also participating in Tier 3 activities. The analyst will lead troubleshooting efforts for difficult or recurring issues, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with senior network engineers on network optimization, design, and automation initiatives. This position is the primary escalation point for junior specialists and is expected to resolve all but the most complex network problems that would require architectural changes.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior technical lead for Tier 2 operations, handling the most complex incidents and providing guidance to junior analysts for issues related to transport and SD-WAN services
  • Lead and conduct comprehensive root cause analysis (RCA) for major network incidents and recurring problems, delivering detailed findings and actionable recommendations to government leadership
  • Collaborate with the Tier 3 engineering team on network design, optimization, and capacity planning efforts by providing operational insights and performance data
  • Develop, test, and deploy advanced SD-WAN policies for application traffic steering, quality of service (QoS), and security in collaboration with network architects
  • Author and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical diagrams, and knowledge base articles for complex network configurations and troubleshooting techniques
  • Assist in the evaluation, testing, and integration of new network technologies, software versions, and hardware platforms before enterprise-wide deployment
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline routine network monitoring, reporting, and configuration tasks
  • Function as the primary technical escalation point for all network operational matters before engaging vendor support or Tier 3 architects

Requirements

Desired/Required Skills:

  • Active Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance required.
  • 5+ years In-depth, hands-on experience with the design, implementation, and operation of complex WAN/LAN environments, including advanced routing (BGP, OSPF) and switching.
  • At least 3 years of direct, in-depth experience with SD-WAN architecture, deployment, and management, including advanced policy creation and overlay/underlay troubleshooting.
  • Extensive experience leading troubleshooting efforts with telecommunications providers for chronic or complex transport circuit issues (MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, 5G/LTE).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and develop long-term solutions to recurring network problems.
  • Experience with network automation concepts and scripting is strongly desired.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent advanced certification is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced SD-WAN certifications (e.g., Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise SD-WAN Implementation).
  • CompTIA Network+ / Security+
