POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Electrical Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for the oversight, review, and approval of electrical engineering deliverables for new construction, remodels, and capital upgrade projects across commercial and supermarket facilities.

This role focuses on quality assurance, engineering judgement, code compliance, client consultation, and coordination-not production drafting. The Senior Electrical Engineer ensures all electrical designs prepared by internal partners, external consultants, or client teams align with applicable codes, design criteria, and best practices.

The individual will also guide updates to client engineering standards, mentor junior engineers, and advise on system improvements to enhance safety, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide senior-level technical review and redlining of electrical plans, calculations, and specifications prepared by internal teams or external engineering consultants.

  • Ensure all designs meet client criteria, applicable codes, and best engineering practices.

  • Lead coordination of electrical systems with mechanical, refrigeration, EMS/controls, architectural, and MEPR design disciplines.

  • Consult with electric utilities regarding service requirements, metering, and switchgear configuration.

  • Advise project managers, vendors, and contractors on equipment selection, installation constraints, and constructability considerations.

  • Conduct on-site assessments of existing electrical systems and prepare recommendations regarding system condition, safety, and replacement needs.

  • Perform field inspections of completed installations for compliance with plans, specifications, and code. Prepare deficiency reports and support corrective action.

  • Partner with clients to enhance design criteria, drive standardization, and identify opportunities for increased performance or reduced total cost.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for resolving complex technical issues related to electrical infrastructure.

  • Mentor and support development of junior and mid-level electrical engineers.

  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience within an MEP consulting or similar technical environment.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Extensive experience with electrical distribution, lighting, grounding, and life safety systems in commercial, retail, industrial, or supermarket facilities.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including client-facing interaction.
