Job description

LHB has an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our Energy & Industry business unit.   This is a hybrid position based in our Duluth or Minneapolis locations.

Position Summary

The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Electrical engineering design for a variety of projects, including industrial electrical power distribution (high, medium, and low voltage), oil & gas, pulp & paper, renewable energy solutions, substation, and mining & heavy manufacturing
  • NEC/NESC review/interpretation, design calculations, and equipment selection (including working with equipment vendors and manufacturers)
  • Work on teams of LHB engineers (multidisciplinary), project managers, and drafting technicians to execute projects
  • Perform field verifications, identifying and organizing field data for design applications accordingly
  • Produce high quality professional documentation in accordance with LHB quality processes
  • Follow all LHB and client safe working practices when working in the office and in the field

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 5+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Licensed PE or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

  • Design experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Oil & gas
    • Substation
    • Medium voltage (5kV) power distribution
    • Pulp & paper
    • Renewable energy solutions
    • Mining & heavy manufacturing
  • Project management and employee supervision experience
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Willingness to travel intermittently for team/client meetings, project site visits, training, etc.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work productively with limited direction and supervision

Salary Range

  • This position's anticipated base salary range is $80,000- $115,000 annually (This position is eligible for yearend bonuses). Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
