Job description

Per Diem Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

The Advanced Practice Provider APP will manage the mid level provider team. This role combines advanced clinical practice with educational and administrative responsibilities to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to our neonatal patients. The APP will be instrumental in managing the midlevel-providers and also guiding the NICU team, enhancing clinical practices, and fostering a culture of learning and professional development. In this role, the candidate provides coordination, and assurance of comprehensive nursing care using nursing process and evidence based practice.

Certification and Licensure:

  • APN license
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Nursing MSN with a specialization in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner NNP or equivalent
  • Licence Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license
  • CDS and DEA,
  • Certifications National certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner NNP-BC from an accredited certifying body,
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a Level 3 NICU, with at least 2 years in a leadership or educational role,
  • CPR certification NRP and BLS certification,

Essential Functions:

  • Provides medical care and treatment to neonates in the critical care setting under the direction of a Neonatologist
  • Responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of newborn/neonatal care delivered to patients who present to the NICU, Labor and Delivery Unit and Mother Baby Unit
  • Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and interprets laboratory studies and performs billing
  • Skills Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment
  • Proficient in electronic health record EHR systems and documentation
  • Prescribes appropriate interventions and medications
  • Utilizes protocols and nursing care practice for neonates and newborn patients
  • Discusses cases with obstetrician and neonatologist
  • Provides education to patients and parents
