Job description

The USS Constitution Museum seeks a talented educator withdemonstratedexperience working with students for the Museum Teacher position. Museum teachersare responsible forfacilitatingall school and youth programs (grades K - 12) at the Museum.Museum teachers play a key role in creating engaging programenvironments for participating youth.Responsibilities include: leading interactive, engaging, and curriculum based programs for student and youth groups visiting the Museum; communicating the themes and content of programs at an appropriate level for groups of various ages, grades, and capabilities; fostering a comfortable, encouraging, and accessible environment for all student and youth visitors;recognizing and acting on opportunities to use interpretive techniques to positively impact group experiences, including approaching individuals who might need direction in the galleries or show particular interest in a display or activity;maintaining the materials and resources needed for school and youth program including restocking and resupplying program kits as needed; and supporting the Museum Learning Department with special events as needed. The successful candidates will havedemonstratedskills infacilitatingprograms andteaching students and youth.Demonstrated experienceworking with youth (classroom teacher, classroom aid, after-school facilitator, museum program facilitator, camp or youth group leader, scout leader) isrequired

Must be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of a group to create a positive experience for all participants. Knowledge of best practices in museum teaching and interpretation techniques is necessary. Successful candidates will have a passion for history and the ability to confidently communicate content and themes related toConstitution'sstory.

Two part-time, seasonal positions are available from May 1 to mid-August. 10 hours a week
