Job description

Job Overview
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit (SVdPD) exists to build a more equitable and compassionate world through meaningful personal relationships, providing whatever is needed to help our neighbors in need get back on their feet and on a path towards self-sufficiency. Our programs provide support ranging from utility, housing and food assistance to education and mentorship programs. The Society also operates a network of thrift stores, two camps, food depots and a nutritional center. We are passionate about systemic change and helping neighbors throughout Metro-Detroit break out of poverty. The role of the Mid-Level Gift Officer is to serve a caseload of donors by initiating, building and maintaining dynamic, reciprocal relationships with individuals, couples, and families who partner financially with SVdP.
Essential Duties
• Cultivate donor relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking mid-level donors to deepen their financial partnership.
• Solicits and closes gifts from mid-level donors.
• Executes strategy through phone, email, and USPS communication.
• Updates the database with call notes and new information about donors.
• Learn about programs and projects and effectively communicate the mission to donors.
• Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly and truthful manner to donors.
• Researches, identifies, and promotes hand-off of high capacity donors to the appropriate MGO.
• Manages a caseload capacity of 400 - 600 donors.
• Meets with a Veritus manager on a weekly basis for accountability and to discuss strategy and moves.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree
• 2 years of Non-Profit development experience
Qualifications
• Communicates at an advanced level, oral and written.
• Strong phone skills - warm tone, good speaking cadence, clear and articulate speech.
• Has a curious mind.
• Demonstrates a strong donor service attitude.
• Participates as a team player.
• Demonstrates strong relational skills.
• Uses interpersonal skills demonstrating tact, patience, and courtesy.
• Knowledgeable about donor databases.
• Exhibits strong time management skills and completes tasks on time.
• Handle tasks independently and is a self-starter.
• Exhibits a high level of integrity.
