Job description

Client Shelby County Emergency Communications Direct located in the Memphis, TN provides technical management support to 11 PSAPs throughout the area. Governed by the District's Board of Directors, the District is neither created, governed, nor funded by the County in any way. In addition, the District receives its funds through service charges paid by all users of telecommunications in Shelby County.

The Shelby County Mayor nominates board members and the Shelby County Commission confirm them. They serve four-year terms. The staff reports to the board of directors.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills Opportunity Reporting to Director of Network Systems, this newly created position will implement the IT strategy, enhance, and maintain the infrastructure, ensure security compliance, and provide hardware and software support for the 9-1-1 District's operations. The candidate will be expected to work on complex assignments, perform a wide range of engineering and troubleshoot with vendors under limited supervision

Candidates must have experience and serve as a technical expert in at least one or more of the following technical systems: security, operating systems, virtualization, cloud, databases, recovery, storage, and applications. Participate in the architecting, engineering, integration, and implementation for technology projects. As a technical expert, the ideal candidate will evaluate and recommend new systems and upgrades and consult on developing and installing new products and applications.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements Requirements BS/BA in information technology, computer science or equivalent is required. In addition, two years' experience in supporting 911 information systems or mid-level information technology position is highly preferred, as is Experience in data security, risk management and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have three or more years of hands-on experience that includes two or more of the following: VESTA Call Handling NG911 Deployment 911 Reporting Systems Cloud-based application knowledge, preferably Azure Office 365 Administration/Services Identity and Certificate Management.
