Senior Java Full Stack Developer

Location: Fairfax, VA

Duration: Long Term

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer with 8+ years of professional experience to support the design, development, integration, and maintenance of secure, scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Java full-stack development, Spring Boot, microservices, SOA, and PostgreSQL, combined with a strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

This position requires an active IRS MBI clearance and a clearance memorandum issued directly by the IRS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade full-stack applications using Java and modern development frameworks.
  • Develop scalable and resilient microservices and SOA-based applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Design, implement, and consume RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Develop and optimize database solutions using PostgreSQL, including complex SQL queries, database design, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Participate in end-to-end application development across both backend and frontend components.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions.
  • Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, integration, and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, security practices, and software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other developers.
  • Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and mid-level developers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and application architecture.

Required Technical Skills

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Java full-stack development.
  • Advanced proficiency in Java/J2EE and object-oriented programming.
  • Strong expertise with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing microservices.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, SQL, database design, and performance optimization.
  • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs/web services.
  • Experience with front-end development technologies and full-stack application development.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, enterprise integration, scalability, and application security.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated Agile/Scrum fluency and experience working in cross-functional Scrum teams.

Required Clearance & Education

  • Active IRS MBI clearance required.
  • Clearance memorandum issued directly by the IRS required.
  • Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development.
