Virginia Tax Seeks a Web Developer
Virginia Tax is seeking a Web Developer to support web application projects. This position involves working throughout the full lifecycle of system delivery, with a focus on the design, development, and deployment of high-quality applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in front-end technologies, particularly Angular or React, along with back-end experience in Java. The developer will collaborate closely with Business System Analysts, IT teams, and testing staff to ensure the successful implementation of system enhancements.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy web applications.
  • Implement new features and enhancements.
  • Conduct unit testing to ensure code quality.
  • Review and contribute to technical designs.
  • Ensure applications meet all functional specifications and performance requirements.
Scope of Work:
 
The scope of work is to support Virginia Tax's web application portfolio, which includes modern and older legacy systems, with a primary focus on modifying, enhancing, and maintaining these existing applications while managing a crucial transition to or integration with a new system. Key responsibilities involve implementing feature requests, bug fixes, and performance improvements across all systems. The developer will leverage Angular for front-end modifications and REST API (Java equivalent) expertise for back-end service integration. A significant portion of the work is dedicated to analyzing and safely modifying existing legacy codebases. This includes designing and developing services to seamlessly integrate the existing and legacy applications with the new target system. The role requires developing robust unit tests and collaborating closely with BSAs and QA teams to ensure all application changes and the new integration adhere to technical specifications and business needs, delivering stable, secure, high-quality updates across the entire application landscape.

Required / Desired Skills:
 
  • Angular Expertise / professional experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications using Angular or React / Required / 5 Years
  • API Development / experience building and consuming RESTful APIs or equivalent experience in Java/Spring Boot / Required / 5 Years
  • Database Proficiency / SQL development, writing complex queries, basic query optimization / Required / 5 Years
  • Full Dev Lifecycle / strong understanding of SDLC and modern methodologies such as Agile and Scrum / Required / 5 Years
