Adjunct Faculty for Forensic Science
The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty for Forensic Science.

Special Instructions to Applicants
Applications for Adjunct Faculty will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed. For full consideration, submit a letter of application/cover letter, curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts, and names and email addresses of three references. The letter should summarize academic preparation, professional experience, and any teaching experience.
First 20 applicants will receive priority review. After the first 20 applications are reviewed, applications will be reviewed in batches of 20 on an as needed basis.
Job SummaryAdjunct faculty members facilitate students' achievement of course objectives and competencies as determined by the program. Adjuncts may teach a variety of forensic science courses, as needed by the program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide face-to-face, interactive video, or online course delivery and instruction of assigned classes.
  2. Prepare and submit syllabi, grades, assessment data, and other required course documentation in a timely manner.
  3. Communicate course requirements and expectations to students.
  4. Assist students with course material as necessary, potentially outside of class time.
  5. Be available to students through office hours (face to face or virtual).
  6. Be responsive to students, director, and staff via USM email.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university and 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in forensic sciences or closely related fields from an accredited university.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of content in assigned course of instruction.
  • Ability to teach effectively (both online and in traditional settings) at the university level.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with others from all backgrounds.

Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Forensic Science or Ph.D. in Forensic Science from an accredited college or university.
Professional experience in field related to assigned course of instruction. Teaching experience at the university level, with demonstrated success in role.
Experience with online course delivery and instruction.
Experience with the Canvas learning management system.
