Job description

We are seeking a Mid-Senior Level Engineer with approximately 10-15 years of experience and a range of knowledge and practice with erosion and sedimentation (E&S) controls projects primarily located in Western Pennsylvania. This position is based in GES’ Cranberry Township, PA office.

Preferred Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Agricultural Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain one in a reasonable timeframe (WV and OH are a plus).
  • Erosion and sedimentation (E&S) controls design.
  • Experience with E&S Plan preparation and implementation.
  • Experience and knowledge of groundwater, soil, and soil vapor characterization and remedial techniques and technologies.
  • Experience with construction stormwater and stream encroachment permitting, specifically Pennsylvania Section 102 and 105 permitting.
  • Experience with cost estimating and bid preparation including technical proposal writing.
  • Experience with engineering principles of design, installation and construction.
  • Experience with environmental compliance and/or permitting (NPDES, Air Quality, SPCC) preferred.
  • Ability to support project teams with excellent internal as well as excellent external client and regulatory communication skills.
  • Considers health and safety (H&S) a core value in their everyday professional and personal life
  • Must be resourceful with excellent communication and writing skills and possess a high degree of initiative and time management skills.
  • Experience with operation, maintenance, and monitoring of groundwater remediation systems, wastewater treatment processes, and optimization is a plus.
  • Experience in environmental remediation is a plus.
  • Wetland identification and delineation experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is a plus.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support project teams with complex E&S controls evaluation, engineering design, management and execution of field work, reporting, and client communications.
  • Lead and/or support client and bid proposal efforts as well as other life-cycle and order of magnitude costing efforts.
  • Assist clients and project teams across various industries with environmental compliance and/or permitting.
  • Review plans, specifications, and technical reports prepared by junior level staff.
  • Mentor and coach junior level staff on engineering activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal engineering manager.
  • Role may include Project Manager responsibilities depending on the candidate.
  • Occasional travel to jobsites within the region (especially PA, WV, and OH) may be required.
