Job description

Wheaton College invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Professor in Computer Science for the Fall 2026 semester. Applicants are required to have at least a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, as well as experience teaching undergraduate courses for a computer science major. The primary teaching assignment for this position is a sophomore-level course in Data Structures and Algorithms (CSCI 345-see catalog description). This course entails three 70-minute lecture sections and one 110-minute laboratory section each week, all meeting all in-person, and accounting for a five credit hour faculty load. Students taking this course have prior experience in Java, C, and Python. Additional teaching assignments are possible depending on departmental needs and applicants' expertise.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae. In the cover letter, please include reference to Wheaton College's Christian identity. Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in computer science are strongly encouraged to apply. Complete application materials will be requested from eligible candidates. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Salary range:  $935 per credit hour for a faculty member with an MA and fewer than 3 years of experience teaching at Wheaton - $1100 per credit hour for an experienced PhD faculty member.

Wheaton College is an evangelical Protestant Christian liberal arts college whose faculty and staff affirm a Statement of Faith and adhere to lifestyle expectations of the Wheaton College Community Covenant. Wheaton is an equal opportunity employer committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce and student body. We encourage the expression of multiple perspectives within a Christian worldview, inside and outside the classroom. For more information about Wheaton College visit www.wheaton.edu.

Additionally, Wheaton College aspires to provide a physically safe environment for students, staff, and faculty to learn and work. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
