Job description

Role Summary
This mid-level Computer Network Engineer position involves hands-on support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure within an on-site environment. The role requires proactive problem solving and technical expertise to ensure network reliability and optimal performance for federal agency operations. Candidates will support regional offices and contribute to ongoing network upgrades, device management, and site infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
  • Travel to field offices across the San Francisco Bay Area, including Sunnyvale, Concord, and San Francisco, as needed.
  • Assist with network upgrades, configuration management, and device remediation.
  • Provide technical support for regional centers and remote sites, ensuring stable connectivity and uptime.
  • Perform network troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance tuning.
  • Contribute to data center operations, including rack layout, power and cooling checks, and cable management.
  • Conduct site cabling and Wi-Fi implementation for office expansions, relocations, and refresh projects.
  • Support MACD requests, equipment decommissions, and site clean-ups.
  • Collaborate with system, security, and service desk teams to resolve complex network issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventories.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; 4+ years of network administration or engineering experience (7+ years without degree).
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco products, LAN/WAN, routing/switching, and Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools and log analysis.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto, F5, or similar enterprise networking platforms.
  • Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Certification such as CCNA, Network+, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting federal health agencies such as HHS, CMS, or NIH.
  • Knowledge of VMware AirWatch, Microsoft Intune, Splunk, or SIEM platforms.
  • Understanding of data center operations, structured cabling, and site infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi deployment, switch configuration, and MACD processes.
  • Exposure to project management and reporting activities.

Publishing Pay Range: $35.00 - $40.00 USD Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
