Job description

Description:

OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for a CNC Set Up II to set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC Machining Centers to ready machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. This role requires advanced knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling setup, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up CNC machines for production runs, including selecting tooling, loading materials, and securing workpieces
  • Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications to understand machining requirements
  • Install and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and other accessories according to job specifications
  • Program CNC machines using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) or manual programming techniques
  • Conduct test runs and verify program accuracy by performing trial cuts and measurements on sample workpieces
  • Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as needed to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to production schedules
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and resolve problems related to tooling, equipment, or programming
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality control teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization
  • Train and mentor junior CNC operators on setup and operation techniques
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including proper handling and operation of CNC machines and equipment
Requirements:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience setting up CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages, such as G-code and M-code, and experience with CAM software
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and tolerances
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining issues and optimize CNC programs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures

EDUCATION

  • 2-year technical certification or equivalent experience preferred

  • M-Thurs; 4:15pm-2:45am
