Description
Looking to take your biology career to the next level?
HELIX Environmental Planning (HELIX) is growing in Northern California, and we're seeking a talented mid-level Biologist to join our Biology team. This Biologist role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in the field, enjoys technical writing, and wants to play a meaningful role in environmental stewardship across diverse projects. If you're ready to make an impact, the Biologist position at HELIX may be the perfect fit.
Why HELIX?
At HELIX, our people are our strength. We're known for high-quality work, collaborative teams, and a culture that values flexibility, adaptability, and growth. The Biologist will join a growing Northern California team with opportunities to lead, mentor, and expand technical expertise. Working out of the Roseville office, this Biologist position has the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with 4 days in the office or out in the field and 1 work-from-home day per week.
A Day in the Life of a Biologist
As a Biologist with HELIX, your days will be dynamic-one day conducting aquatic resource mapping or special-status species surveys, another day drafting biological technical reports or regulatory permit applications. On another day you could be helping establish a mitigation preserve with special-status species (e.g., California tiger salamander, vernal pool fairy shrimp). The Biologist works both independently and collaboratively, balancing fieldwork, data analysis, and report writing while contributing to project success. The Biologist will have the opportunity to be mentored by a principal biologist who specializes in regulatory permitting and mitigation establishment. The opportunity to grow is endless.
What You'll Do
  • Lead or assist with biological surveys, vegetation mapping, and jurisdictional delineations
  • Conduct and lead construction and restoration monitoring
  • Prepare and review biological technical reports and CEQA/NEPA documentation
  • Support wetland permit applications and regulatory coordination
  • Maintain accurate field notes, maps, and project documentation
  • Assist with proposals, business development, and project delivery
  • Travel overnight occasionally as required

Compensation: $37-$45 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Ready to grow with HELIX? Apply today and bring your expertise to a team where your work truly matters. The Biologist role offers challenge, variety, and the opportunity to shape meaningful environmental outcomes.
HELIX is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and an inclusive work environment. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply regardless of gender, race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, disability, age, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service or veteran status. These protections extend to all management practices and decisions, including recruitment and hiring, appraisal systems, promotions, training, and career development programs.
