Job description

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Senior Cloud Network Engineer for any of our Womble locations. The Senior Cloud Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating a secure, resilient, and cloud-first networking environment supporting the firm's on-premises, cloud, and remote connectivity needs. This role focuses on Zero Trust networking, secure remote access, and enterprise network security controls, with a strong preference for Palo Alto and Microsoft network technologies.
The engineer partners closely with infrastructure, security, cloud, and endpoint teams to deliver reliable connectivity for offices, remote users, and cloud-hosted services. The position plays a critical role in advancing the firm's Zero Trust network architecture, improving service reliability, reducing risk, and ensuring consistent network governance across a highly regulated legal environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, implement, and operate cloud and hybrid network architectures, including routing, segmentation, secure connectivity, and high-availability network services supporting offices, cloud platforms, and remote users.
  • Engineer and operate Zero Trust networking controls, including least-privilege access, segmentation, identity-aware access enforcement, and continuous verification across network paths.
  • Implement, manage, and support Palo Alto Networks platforms, including next-generation firewalls, Panorama security policy management, and secure remote access solutions (e.g., Prisma Access / GlobalProtect).
  • Support cloud networking services and integrations, including connectivity for Azure workloads and SaaS platforms, and partner on cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and incident response for network and secure connectivity issues; partner with service desk, cloud, and security teams to resolve complex, high-impact incidents.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, standards, diagrams, and runbooks; participate in change management, audits, and continuous improvement of network services.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on enterprise experience supporting network and security infrastructure.
  • Palo Alto Networks certifications (e.g., PCNSA, PCNSE), Cloud networking or security certifications (e.g., Azure-focused networking credentials), Industry security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP)
  • Hands-on enterprise experience designing and supporting cloud and hybrid network environments
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust networking principles and secure network architecture
  • Experience administering enterprise network security platforms, preferably Palo Alto Networks technologies
  • Experience supporting secure remote access solutions for large user populations
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills in an enterprise environment
  • Experience operating in regulated or security-sensitive environments

COMPENSATION: The national average salary range for this role is $110,800 - $133,600. Starting salary will be determined based on location, qualifications, and experience.
