Job Summary:
Collinwood Technology Partners is assisting a growing MSP in Naperville to hire a Network Engineer. In this role, you will manage customer IT environments, provide effective project management, and design and support network infrastructure while ensuring security and availability.
Responsibilities:
• Work with customers onsite and remotely (some out-of-state travel may be required from time to time).
• Effective Project Management of IT Projects and communications to the customer point of contact (either IT Manager, Director, or CIO)
• Effective IT infrastructure management of several customers' IT environments
• Make professional recommendations regarding IT infrastructure, disaster recovery, server deployment, equipment status, new technologies, business continuity options
• Assist our customer base with leveraging investments in AI while securing their data
• Proactive personality actively seeking and recommending new solutions and approaches to solve business challenges and complexities; self-starter.
• Able to know product lines well enough to research for appropriate part numbers, solutions, and deep-rooted understanding of how the product lines work in relation to other solutions that our client represents.
• Designs, deploys, and supports LANs, WANs, VLANS, network segments, Internet QoS and traffic prioritization, firewall and intranet systems
• Familiarity with server hardware, server efficiency (physical and virtual), load balancing and throughput.
• Sales Engineer Support - Intermittent sales calls with sales representative(s) to provide presentations
• Monitor and maintain integrity of customers' network, servers, and all equipment performance to ensure security and availability
• Design and assign network addressing, routing protocols, and routing table configuration.
• Proactively identify user needs and troubleshoot problems reported by users using technical triage skills
• Follow through with solutions and identify closure to reported issues
• Utilize SLAs to evaluate the effectiveness of the IT Services and Support function
• Provide excellent IT support both in-person and remotely.
• Respond to queries either in person or over the phone.
• Write technical overviews and recommendations
• Good Visio and/or networking design skills and be able to discuss them within all levels of IT
• Maintain all Infrastructure diagrams and models
• Follow up with customers to ensure the issue has been resolved.
• Gain feedback from customers about computer usage.
• Write reports to bring awareness to recurring issues and solutions for those issues.
Qualifications:
Required:
• More than five (5+) years' network engineering experience.
• Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
• Excellent communication skills - effective verbally and in writing
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Windows Active Directory (users, GPOs, etc.)
• Microsoft Email/Office 365 / Exchange Server
• Network infrastructure (IPV4/IPV6, subnets, VPN, DHCP, DNS, switches, routers, WIFI, wiring, etc.)
• Windows Server 2016 and up
• Security skillsets – Firewall, IPS, IDS, SIEM a plus
• SAN/NAS experience a plus
• VoIP / SIP Configuration knowledge a plus
• Deploying enterprise-class solutions that allow our customers to leverage an investment in AI without compromising data security.
• Bachelor (4-year) degree a plus, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
• Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft a plus (MCSE)
• Proven experience and success in running IT Solution Projects and established Project Management Protocols
