Network Engineer Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer I to support the design, implementation, operation, and sustainment of complex enterprise and mission-critical networks. This role requires a strong background in network architecture, cybersecurity, systems administration, and troubleshooting within highly secure environments.
The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader responsible for network design, integration, optimization, and security while collaborating with cross-functional engineering and cybersecurity teams. Responsibilities • Design, implement, and maintain secure enterprise network infrastructures. • Provide network architecture designs, implementation plans, and technical documentation. • Develop and maintain network schematics, addressing plans, routing strategies, and configuration baselines. • Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other networking technologies. • Conduct testing, validation, performance analysis, and failover assessments. • Monitor and optimize network performance, reliability, and security. • Support network modernization efforts, migrations, and infrastructure upgrades. • Implement cybersecurity controls and secure network configurations aligned with industry best practices. • Collaborate with systems, cybersecurity, software, and test engineering teams to support mission objectives. • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance network capabilities. • Participate in troubleshooting and incident response activities across Layers 1–7. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Information Technology, or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience; OR • Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience; OR • PhD and 4+ years of relevant experience. • Active U.S. Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility/access. • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent). • Hands-on experience planning, implementing, operating, and troubleshooting routed and switched IP networks. • Experience supporting: ○ IPv4 networking ○ OSPF routing ○ VLANs ○ VPN technologies ○ Firewalls • Experience administering Microsoft and Linux-based systems. • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, system hardening, and secure network operations. Preferred Qualifications • Cisco CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent advanced networking certification. • Experience serving as a lead network engineer or network design authority. • Expertise with: ○ Cisco routing and switching ○ Enterprise firewalls ○ VMware vSphere, ESXi, and NSX ○ IDS/IPS technologies ○ Network Access Control (NAC) • Experience with: ○ DNS, DHCP, NTP ○ RADIUS and TACACS+ ○ Active Directory integration • Knowledge of DISA STIGs, RMF, ATO processes, and security compliance frameworks. • Experience designing segmented and multi-domain network architectures. • Network automation experience using: ○ Ansible ○ Python ○ Bash ○ PowerShell • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management. • Background supporting Network Operations Centers (NOCs) and complex operational environments. • Experience working with high-availability, real-time, or mission-critical systems.
Knowledge of VoIP, SIP, QoS, and converged voice/data networks. Compensation: $110,000 - $155,000, commensurate on experience.
