OVERVIEW: Manuel Diaz Law Firm, PC is seeking a dynamic, self-starting individual with vision, initiative, and a demonstrated commitment to serve as a Paralegal in the Immigration Department.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Managing Attorney for the Immigration Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Paralegal will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to lawyer and enhance office effectiveness
  • Handle communication with clients, witnesses etc.
  • Manage client interaction to facilitate communication.
  • Locate and develop relevant case information
  • Type up and file basic legal documents and correspondence
  • Assist team in gathering documents from clients
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Maintain contact lists
  • Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; Adobe Acrobat)
  • Excellent secretarial and organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
  • 2-5 years of Immigration caseload experience. (preferred)
  • Experience in EOIR filings including bond hearings, 42A and 42B cancellation of removal, and asylum. (preferred)
  • Experience in USCIS filings including family-based cases, waivers, VAWA and U visas, affirmative asylum, DACA, etc. (preferred)
  • Experience with family-based consular processing cases. (preferred)



HOURLY PAY: Based on applicant’s years of relevant experience.
