Brief Summary of role

This senior individual contributor role owns the engineering, administration, and governance of a global Microsoft 365 environment. Serving as a technical escalation point for core collaboration services, the position blends hands‑on platform engineering with project delivery and governance. The successful candidate configures and secures services, automates administration at scale, leads migrations and compliance initiatives, and partners with vendors to maintain a reliable, secure, and audit‑ready collaboration ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and optimize the Microsoft 365 tenant, covering Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID service configuration, health monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Manage Microsoft Teams calling, meeting, recording, and retention policies, including automatic call recording (ACR) and Teams Premium rollouts.
  • Provision and govern SharePoint Online sites and OneDrive permissions, public vs. private site classifications, external/guest access, metadata, and storage cleanup.
  • Administer Exchange Online mail flow, distribution/security groups, mailbox lifecycles, message footers/banners, safe-sender lists, and configurations.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID app registrations, secret and certificate rotations, conditional access policies, group-based licensing, and guest/inactive account reviews.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation for provisioning, bulk administration, and recurring reporting across the M365 stack.
  • Build and troubleshoot Microsoft Graph API integrations and scope Azure application registrations for internal and partner solutions.
  • Operate workspace governance and reporting tooling (such as SysKit Point) and surface usage insights through Power BI dashboards.
  • Lead and support data migrations into Microsoft 365, including Google Workspace to SharePoint Online and tenant transition initiatives using tools like AvePoint.
  • Administer backup and recovery for M365 workloads using tools like Keepit, perform restores, and support backup‑controls assurance reviews.
  • Implement information governance and compliance controls using Microsoft Purview (data retention, legal holds, eDiscovery, information protection) and support regulatory programs like CMMC and SOX.
  • Represent the messaging and collaboration domain in the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and contribute to AI governance for Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, partner with vendor support on critical issues, and mentor junior engineers.
Skills + Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience administering enterprise Microsoft 365 / Office 365 environments at scale.
  • Deep technical expertise across Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automating administration and reporting across M365 workloads.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph API and Azure app registration / authentication concepts.
  • Practical experience with conditional access, identity governance, and M365 security and compliance controls.
  • Familiarity with ITSM and change‑management processes (such as ServiceNow and CAB).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and cross‑functional communication skills, with experience supporting a global, multi‑region user base (AMER, EMEA, APAC).
  • Preferred: Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-102, MS-700, MS-721, SC-300, SC-400, or equivalent).
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Purview, eDiscovery, legal holds, data‑retention administration, and compliance frameworks including CMMC and SOX.
  • Preferred: Hands‑on experience with M365 migration and backup tooling such as AvePoint and Keepit.
  • Preferred: Experience governing Microsoft Copilot / Copilot Studio and other AI collaboration capabilities.
