Job description

Responsibilities
The Arcfield Cross-Domain Solutions Group is seeking a mid-level software engineer to join a Research and Development Team which is devoted to enhancing an industry-leading cross-domain guarding solution deployed at government and military installations worldwide. Sharing data across security domains is critical to our nation's ability to maintain information superiority. A cross-domain guarding solution facilitates the sharing of data from one security domain to another. It also ensures the integrity of the data, guards against unauthorized access and malicious cyber-attacks, filters data and assists with a human review of the data being transferred.
The chosen candidate will conduct research for and development of a moderately complex software code base comprising the cross-domain solution and feature-enhancing components. Tasking includes analyzing and prototyping new features to address security and enterprise requirements and contributing to baseline development. The chosen candidate will collaborate with other team members, a production team using Scrum, and field engineers to achieve team goals. The chosen candidate will also bring experience and skills that enrich the other members of the Research and Development Team.
  • Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensure software standards are met. Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Designs, develops and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
  • Career level with a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts.
  • Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 5-7 yrs. of experience, or a Master's and 3-5 yrs. of experience or a PhD with 0-2 years of experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
  • Developing solutions with languages and technologies such as Java, C++/C, Python, Venom, Go, Linux containers, Kubernetes and Helm Charts
  • Design and implementation using object-oriented principles and patterns
  • Participation in multiple simultaneous efforts
  • Familiar with the full software engineering lifecycle
  • Capable of capturing and documenting software design and functionality

Equal Pay Act
This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation.
