Job description

Overview
Stryten Energy delivers premium energy storage solutions that power everything from warehouses and distribution centers to cars, trains, and trucks that keep people on the move and essential supply chains running. Our stored energy solutions include advanced lead and lithium batteries, intelligent chargers, and cloud-based software that help companies make smart fleet design decisions.
The successful candidate will be part of our Lithium group and will focus on designing leading-edge Lithium battery solutions for several different applications, from motive power to green energy grid storage, from the system level down to the circuit level. Experience in designing small signal analog and digital electronics and power electronics with high reliability and safety is required for products such as Stryten's battery management systems. They will also provide hardware design and troubleshooting support to the manufacturing facility. They will work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop products and systems for a wide range of applications. This position will allow the successful candidate to work on a project from start to finish, gaining knowledge and experience in all aspects of the design phase, from idea to delivered product.
This position requires you to be on-site daily in our Alpharetta, GA, facility.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct experimental tests, analyze test data, and write test reports.
  • Create test plans and procedures to support production test system development.
  • Work with external laboratories to test and qualify products to applicable environmental, safety, industrial, military, and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC/EMI) standards.
  • Collaborate with the software team on device bring-up, hardware integration, and system development.
  • Develop and execute hardware Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification plans.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews.
  • Collaborate with the mechanical engineering teams to develop high-performance packaging.
  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers and Subcontract Manufacturers (SCM).
  • Support Supply Chain Management to identify preferred components and vendors, prepare purchase requisitions, and handle component obsolescence issues.
  • Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) activities internally and with suppliers.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design to Cost (DTC) activities internally and with suppliers to ensure product design is cost-effective and conforms to the manufacturing & assembly plans.
  • Develop Hardware Design Specification and Hardware Design Description documents.
  • Develop schematics, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) using industry standard tools.

Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related discipline) required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working as an Electrical Engineer
  • Strong experience in preparing product and engineering technical specifications and product performance test procedures or plans.
  • Strong Experience in safety and compliance testing (UL, Military Standards, FCC,...)
  • Strong Experience in power electronics, mixed signal electronics, and associated technologies.
  • Strong Experience in energy storage and control in multi-cell, rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs and other storage technologies.
  • Strong Experience with high voltage and high-power electronics is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytic problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assemble prototypes with Surface Mount Device (SMD) components.
  • Strong Experience with Altium and/or OrCAD for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Familiar with SolidWorks 3D CAD, or similar, for mechanical design.
  • Excellent working knowledge of microprocessor-based controller design and testing.
  • Excellent working knowledge of communication circuits and protocols (e.g., CAN, Serial, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Experience with Configuration Management (CM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • Familiar with low-level software development, including device drivers and scripting languages.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.

Travel, other requirements:
  • Occasional international travel - two to three times annually for 3-5 day durations
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
