Job description

Job Title: Research Engineer – Soft Materials & Microfabrication

Location: Redmond, WA | On-site

Duration: 30 Months | Contract


We are looking for a hands-on Research Engineer with experience in soft materials, polymers, microfabrication, and process development to support next-generation hardware development.


What You'll Do

  • Develop and optimize lab-scale fabrication and processing methods for polymers, elastomers, and other soft materials.
  • Develop and refine fabrication techniques including injection molding and compression molding.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Work in cleanroom / controlled laboratory environments for device prototyping.
  • Characterize materials and devices and analyze experimental results.
  • Improve process repeatability, yield, and scalability.
  • Develop and document SOPs, technical reports, and design/process guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with materials, device, test, mechanical engineering teams and external vendors.


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with polymer, elastomer, plastics, or soft-material processing.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled laboratory environment.
  • Experience with microfabrication, device prototyping, or fabrication process development.
  • Strong experimental, troubleshooting, and process-optimization skills.
  • Experience with injection molding, compression molding, or related molding processes is highly valuable.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
