JOB TITLE
Microbiologist – On Site (Yauco, PR)

POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Microbiologist at our Yauco facility, you will play a critical role in ensuring the microbiological integrity of cleanrooms, products, and utilities. This position focuses on routine testing, environmental monitoring, and contamination control - integral to maintaining ISO-classified cleanroom standards and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support production by performing microbiological tests essential for cleanroom, component, and product release, including both viable and non‑viable environmental monitoring.
  • Prepare culture media, maintain culture stocks, and clean laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Create and update microbiology lab procedures and support investigations such as OOS, NCPR, and CAPA.
  • Conduct environmental testing—both viable and non‑viable monitoring—for ISO 7 and ISO 8 cleanrooms (e.g., air, surfaces, utilities).
  • Manage environmental equipment used for monitoring controlled spaces and utilities.
  • Support sampling and monitoring of clean utilities (e.g., water systems, compressed air), as preferred knowledge area.
  • Assist with method and equipment validation, including trend analysis of historic data.
  • Ensure careful documentation and compliance with GMP and GLP standards.
  • Communicate timely test results and collaborate closely with production and process improvement teams.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Education: Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Technical Skills & Experience:
    • Proven experience with cell culture techniques.
    • Experience working in cleanroom (aseptic) environments
    • Proficiency in environmental equipment management, including both viable and non‑viable monitoring.
    • Preferred: knowledge of sampling clean utilities (water, compressed air, etc.)
  • Compliance: Familiarity with GMP/GLP guidelines and meticulous documentation standards.
