Are you a compassionate and dedicated Patient Care Technician interested in working within a supportive nursing team environment? Join our team as a Mental Health Technician (MHT) at Brookhaven Hospital and play a vital role in providing high-quality care and making a difference in the lives of our patients. Brookhaven Hospital specializes in the rehabilitation of adults with neurologic disorders such as acquired brain injury (ABI). 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with registered nurses (RNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), therapists, and other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive care to patients
  • Assists patients with basic care patient care activities, but not limited to bathing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation
  • Provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and helps patients maintain independence
  • Takes and records vital signs accurately, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate
  • Performs routine tasks such as changing bed linens, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized patient environment
  • Collaborates with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and documentation of patient care provided
  • Participates in treatment group processes for patients as assigned
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, staff and visitors

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of direct care experience in a healthcare setting, working with patients with adult patients with physical or mental disabilities or rehabilitation needs
  • Must be able to work rotating weekend shifts
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks, pre-employment physical and drug screen are required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment

PHYSICAL CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires the ability to read, write, and process information accurately
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • May be required to lift or push up to 65lbs
