The Infection Preventionist for Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Infection Prevention functions of MGH IC, one of the site teams of Mass General Brigham (MGB) Infection Control. The Infection Preventionist, reporting to the MGH Director of Infection Control, must have knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control principles and practice, the ability to make evidence-based decisions, excellent problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
MGB is in an active change management environment and the Infection Preventionist will need to demonstrate flexibility and open mindedness as the contours of this position will actively evolve over time.
Job Summary
Responsible for the coordination and planning of Infection Control activities. Provides guidance and consultation in the development, planning, and coordination of infection control. Conducts relevant investigations and develop reports pertinent to clinical risk management issues.

Essential Functions
-Report communicable diseases to local and state health departments and complete public health department forms as needed
-Utilize performance improvement methodology as a means of enacting change.
-Develops an annual surveillance plan based on the population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data.
-Maintains records of actual potentially infectious patients and reports pertinent information to county, state, and federal agencies as required by law.
-Provides formal and informal education programs to hospital personnel as necessary or when directed.
