Location: Boise, Idaho. As Idaho's capital, Boise is a growing city and serves as headquarters for several major national and international corporations. Boise offers a rich variety of both cultural and recreational opportunities.
Primary Duties: The Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) is currently seeking an attorney to fill the role of MFCU Director. MFCU investigates and prosecutes Medicaid fraud by health care providers and the abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of patients in any facility that accepts Medicaid funds.
The MFCU Director supervises the 10-person MFCU team made up of prosecutors, investigators, auditors, and support staff. The Director oversees criminal investigations and prosecutions with the goal of obtaining criminal convictions and recovering fraudulently obtained Medicaid funds.
The MFCU Director is also responsible for external relationships with various stakeholders. MFCU's success depends upon strong partnerships with law enforcement and other government agencies across the state. The Director works closely with federal partners including managing the federal grant that allows MFCU to accomplish its work and pursuing civil recoveries when appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensed to practice law in Idaho, or eligible to become licensed in Idaho without taking the bar exam through reciprocity or UBE Score Transfer.
  • Criminal prosecution experience, preferably with experience handling white-collar fraud cases.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage detailed information efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, employees, other government agencies, the legislature, and the public.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to drive and travel occasionally.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be on call as needed.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check and maintain CJIS access.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience prosecuting Medicaid fraud.
  • Civil litigation experience.
  • Experience supervising professional and administrative employees.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in public speaking, testimony, and interagency representation.
