Job description

Position Description This is a non-Civil Service announcement. In this Administrative Assistant position, the incumbent will have a variety of responsibilities within the Metropolitan Council Office. They will utilize their communication skills to prepare correspondence, proclamations, and community meeting materials that support Council Members in their official duties.

The incumbent will also be responsible for other duties that may range from preparing Council Committee agendas to assisting with constituent communication. Employees in the Metropolitan Council Office work diligently to provide excellent service for members of the Council, as well as members of the public. We are looking for a highly engaged and motivated individual who possesses a strong attention to detail to join our team.

*Resume must uploaded as part of your application* Typical Duties Performs professional level administrative work for the Council Office. Writes and prepares clear and cogent Council and Council Office correspondence. Writes and prepares Council proclamations for public presentation.

Assists in the production of Council Office public communications and social media content. Coordinates project-related tasks for senior management. Assists with scheduling community meetings.

Coordinates constituent service requests and initiatives with HUB Nashville and other Metro departments. Assists at Council meetings, requiring evening work hours at least twice a month. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would prepare the candidate to perform duties of the position at the professional level.

Candidates would typically have a bachelor's degree plus (2) two years of professional-level administrative experience. Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Note: Per Metro Ordinance No.

SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs, primarily Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Must be willing and able to learn new software applications. Ability to synthesize and present information in a clear and effective manner, including the creation of digital presentations. Proficiency with Canva.

Ability to follow style guidelines and work with social media templates. Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, competing priorities, and tight deadlines simultaneously while maintaining quality. We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity at all levels.
