Mechanical Metrology Specialist

Location: Rockford, IL

What you’ll do
  • Handle first-article, in-process, final, and incoming inspections for machined parts.
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints and specifications to set inspection criteria.
  • Use precision instruments (calipers, dial micrometers, dial indicators, height gages, plug gages, thread gages) to verify critical dimensions and features.
  • Validate conformance to engineering drawings, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Document results thoroughly to maintain accurate quality records.
  • Communicate issues promptly to the Quality Manager and participate in corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 to 5 years in quality inspection or a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints is required.
  • Experience with dial micrometers and dial indicators is preferred.
  • Comfort with precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gages, plug gages, and thread gages.
  • CMM experience is a plus; we’re willing to train the right candidate.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity for fine inspection tasks (close vision, depth perception, color vision, and focus adjustment).
