Group Overview

Air Mobility Group (AIRMOB) is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s aerial refueling (AAR) capabilities, ensuring the readiness and operational effectiveness of the tanker fleet. AIRMOB oversees fleet management, maintenance, and airworthiness, working to sustain and enhance refueling operations. It manages the integration of new processes and technologies, ensuring that tanker aircraft remain mission-ready through effective logistics, maintenance oversight, and regulatory compliance. By coordinating across various teams, AIRMOB ensures the fleet meets both current and future operational needs, supporting a range of specialized air mobility missions. Metrea specializes in signal classification, direction finding, advanced geolocation techniques, and waveform development including waveforms for MANET and LPI/LPD applications. Metrea also develops special purpose radios for government customers and licenses DF and geolocation solutions to multiple OEMs.


Position Summary

The Maintenance Controller is responsible for coordinating and planning maintenance activities on their assigned shift for MSM's KC-135 fleet. This role ensures efficient execution of maintenance operations, provides technical support to maintenance activities, and maintains effective communication between Maintenance, Operations, and Logistics Departments. The position requires technical expertise in aviation maintenance and the ability to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company policies while reporting directly to the Maintenance Control Manager.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan maintenance activities and provide technical support on assigned shift
  • Coordinate maintenance activities conducted by Contract Agencies, where applicable.
  • Ensure contracted maintenance personnel are properly briefed and understand the nature of problems to be worked, as well as company policies and procedures for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with current FARs, company manuals, and other Technical Data acceptable to the Administrator.
  • Provide technical assistance to all maintenance activities and personnel.
  • Monitor all DMIs (Deferred Maintenance Items) to ensure time limits are not exceeded.
  • Monitor, update, and verify aircraft status; report aircraft status changes as they occur to Operations and Maintenance.
  • Execute planning and scheduling of airframe and line engine maintenance/inspections, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, corrosion program requirements, scheduled modifications, and mandatory replacement items as directed.
  • Assemble Aircraft Maintenance/Inspection Packages, including compliance with applicable AD Notes, Mandatory Modifications, Corrosion Program requirements, and Deferred Maintenance Items.
  • Actively participate in company Safety Programs and Safety Management System; report all safety concerns in a timely manner and ensure safe work practices.
  • Follow Occupational Safety and Health standards applicable to work location.
  • In the absence of the Maintenance Control Manager, Reports to the Sr. Maintenance Controller.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Requires an appropriate airman certificate with A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) ratings and minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience. Other experience may be considered in lieu of Both licenses, however an A&P license must be obtainable within a reasonable period upon hire. Must possess thorough knowledge of FAA regulations (14 CFR 43, 14 CFR 91), aircraft maintenance documentation, and maintenance planning systems. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills are essential for coordinating complex maintenance activities and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Previous maintenance control or planning experience preferred. Experience with KC-135 or similar military aircraft preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with maintenance teams, leadership, and external agencies, and ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of management and technicians.
  • Ability to read and interpret system wiring diagrams, structural repair manuals, and aircraft maintenance documentation, strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with ability to resolve complex maintenance issues, analytical skills to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and recommend corrective actions, and ability to review and interpret maintenance records and develop comprehensive maintenance plans.
  • Proactive planning skills for maintenance scheduling with excellent time management skills and forward-thinking perspective.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and enterprise maintenance software systems.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances, if required. Must be a US citizen.
